Hope is on the horizon

To experience the dawn by the sea is something very special.
The early morning is pure, fresh and clear, like the air and the water.
The change of light, the play of colors in the sky, when the first rays of the sun flash through the darkness, gives the sea a very special atmosphere.
An atmosphere which is very intense, peaceful and quiet.

The morning is a fresh start for me.
A beginning of a new day, but also a beginning of a possible change and a hope that bad events will turn out well.

Every new day, every morning can be a new beginning.
If I want to change something in my life, I like to use the morning for the first impulses and first steps.
Especially in the morning you have the opportunity to be alone.
The head isn’t full of thoughts, but there is a meditative silence like it is in nature.
I can fill that silence with a joy, just by watching the sea or by surfing or swimming.
Often, by being in the water, I get creative ideas and solutions for problems that seemed to have gotten stuck on the day before.
And the I look at them from a different perspective.

This atmosphere, the changing play of colors and the cold and fresh sea breeze, gives me peace, strength and motivation.
Sometimes it’s just pure joy and pleasure.
A pleasure to be part of this world.
Just enjoying the moment.

The morning is the time of the day that is still unencumbered.
Here I can provide myself with the energy for the day.
I feel like having all the options left.
Everything that has burdened me the day before is a little smaller, lighter or has completely disappeared.
When everything awakens, it is like awakening one’s own thirst for action, to embrace change, to reinvent yourself from time to time.

I sense the dawn as a brief pause of nature.
And so it is with your own thoughts.
A calm and clarity.
And like the first sunbeams, the first fresh, positive and constructive thoughts come up.
With the first rays of sunshine hope arise, the proverbial silver lining on the horizon.
The hope that a solution can be found for everything.
The confidence that it will be good and that I can give my life a new direction at all times.
I also see an opportunity to deal with difficult situations.

Morning is a gift, a wonderful spectacle of nature, source of strength and inspiration, the possibility of a new beginning and the joy of life.
Morning is the awakening of hope for a life that can be redesigned again.

„When you wake up in the morning, remember what a precious treasure it is to live, breathe and be happy.“

(Marcus Aurelius)

The magic of the moment

Surfing is for me a way to be completely with myself.
Whenever i have overwhelming thoughts, when they circulate in my head again over and over again, worries, fears and self-doubt, then surfing brings me back into the here and now.

When you surf, you have to focus on the incoming waves, on the conditions, you don’t have time to focus on anything else.

Sometimes you have to react very quickly, if you want to get a wave.
You can’t hesitate and then, in that one moment, you have to use all your strength to paddle the wave.

You are completely with yourself, your senses are tense, focused and then, by your effort, you suddenly experience a feeling of lightness, weightlessness and freedom.
Right now in this moment, there is a presence, you feel at ease, everything else around you becomes very small and blurry.

You feel born, sheltered.

There is no fear.

There are no doubts.

You feel free.

One with you and the sea.

You can not influence how the waves come at you.
You can only try to focus on this one moment.

Sometimes you can’t get that wave.
Maybe the wave will go under you or the wave will pull you deeper into the water, and you get hurled as if you are in a waching machine.

Then you try it again and again.
And eventually you accomplish to ride this wave.
The wave will take you along.
You experience the magic of the moment.

Free from all worries, fears and self-doubt, just yourself, free and alive.
This liveliness and freedom that makes you addicted.
You want to experience this again and again.
What you always strive for.
This moment that gives you everything.

Thank you, Ocean, for the magical moments!

The breath of the sea

When you are on the beach, you can watch the change of the tide in a wonderful way.
What was land before, is suddenly flooded with water, and so, this rhythm continues like inhaling and exhaling.
Not static, but in small movements always back and forth.
The tides aren’t only created by the gravity between earth, moon and sun, but also by the centrifugal forces, which are caused by the rotation of the earth.

So everything is in motion or as Heraclitus put it:
“ Everything flows !“
Everything is in a constant change and Heraclitus continues: „We can not climb twice in the same river.“
He meant by that, as time went on, more water has flowed past and we have also changed ourselves simultaneously.
For many, this constant change and transformation is very depressing.
But couldn’t it be also consolation?

Heraclitus continues that there is for him a unity of the opposites.
Day and night, winter and summer, ebb and flow, etc.
Only through the opposites the other side make sense.
This tension creates something new.
If we didn’t have these opposites, there would be a standstill and that means death.

For example, considering traces on the beach, when they disappear when the tide sets in, then on the one hand you have a picture of the transience, but on the other hand you have also a picture of the recommencement.
When the water has receded, there is new, untouched sand in front of you, that can absorb new traces.
This new beginning becomes possible only through the forces of the opposites.
And in this possibility lies a great energy.

So the tides can be a symbol of a new start.
No matter in what situation you are, a new beginning is always possible.
We just have to take advantage of this energy, the change.
To use them as a creative force to set constantly new traces and also to change the direction.

Only when we exhale and when we let go of the old, we can breathe in and absorb new things!

I feel blue

Blue,

for some it is simply a color that is predominantly in the color spectrum at a wavelength between 460 to 480 nanometers and belongs to the three primary colors.
A color we are constantly surrounded by.
The blue planet, our earth, which looks blue from space, because three quarters of the Earth’s surface is water.
We ourselves, our body consists to a large extent of water.
We perceive the sea as blue, because the reflection of the sunlight on the sea surface reflects shortwave light (blue) and absorbs longwave light.
The different shades of blue and color nuances of the oceans are caused by substances dissolved in seawater, such as algae, plankton, sediment etc., but are also influenced by different water depths.

For others, blue also has a meaning beyond the physical:

Blue is associated with peace and quiet.
A color that promotes relaxation.
It also signals security and confidence and gives a feeling of comfort.
The blue of the water stands for clarity and purity and, as researchers from University of British Columbia in Vancouver (Ravi Metha and Juliet Zhu) have researched, it could also stimulate creativity and contribute to the promotion of solution strategies.

But why does it say „I feel blue!“ if it means a feeling of melancholy and sadness?

When you are at the ocean and you look at the blue expanse of the horizon, the feeling of melancholy and wistfulness can arise.
But couldn’t lead this melancholy and sadness to a certain clarity?
Don’t we need sometimes a certain sadness to reflect on existing situations? Don’t we also need to absorb these „negative“ emotions in order to gain new clarity from reflection?

I think if you embrace melancholy, it will also create creativity.
It will lead you to creative solutions.
If you dive into the blue, in the blue sea, but also when you actually go into the blue water,
you will find the peace, comfort and security that helps you to overcome the sadness and
you will find this refreshing clarity.

Jump into the blue and feel blue!
